Chance The Rapper led festival fans in a singalong of ‘Happy Birthday’ to Beyonce on her 35th birthday at Made In America festival yesterday (September 4).
As her husband Jay Z watched on, Beyonce looked embarrassed as Chance urged the crowd to sing along at the event at Ben Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia.
Coldplay also marked Beyonce’s celebrations during their set. Chris Martin joked: “We want to say happy birthday to Mrs Carter, who is out here somewhere. Can you believe she’s 107-years-old? Happy birthday, Bey.”
The festival marked a mini Destiny’s Child reunion, as Beyonce was joined by Kelly Rowland for the day, with Rowland telling E! that she bought the singer diamonds for her birthday. She said: “Diamonds are a girls’ best friends, so I got her diamonds.”
Their friends New York Knicks basketball player Carmelo Anthony and his wife, TV presenter La La Anthony, also joined Beyonce for her birthday at the festival, which Beyonce headlined in 2015.
Beyonce’s birthday marked the end of her month off from her ‘Formation’ tour, which resumes for another nine dates this Wednesday, starting at East Rutherford Metlife Stadium in New Jersey before ending at Nashville Nissan Stadium on October 2.
As well as Coldplay, Rihanna headlined Made In America at the weekend on a bill also featuring 2 Chainz & Lil Wayne, Martin Garrix, Jamie xx, Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros, Grimes, DJ Khaled and Banks & Steelz.
